Martial Arts at MATS

Aikido is a nonviolent Japanese martial art that teaches self-defense without injury to the attacker. The movements of aikido enable the aikidoist to harmonize with rather than confront an aggressive line of attack. By doing so, the aikidoist is able to convert the attack into a circular motion that renders the attacker helpless. Aikido is a philosophy with a physical expression. Class schedule

DanZan Ryu Jujitsu is a Japanese system of self-defense. It consists of throws, holds, chokes, joint-locks and grappling. Instruction begins with a series of falling techniques that allow students to learn how to be thrown safely. Class schedule

Judo is the Olympic sport that developed from the fighting art of jujitsu. Judo classes focus on teaching students safe throwing and mat techniques along with training and conditioning techniques. In adult judo classes, arm-bars and chokes are also taught. Students are encouraged to enter tournaments when they have reached the required level of proficiency. Class schedule
