This
is not a how-to book of martial arts techniques. Rather, this collection
of essays gives insight into the history, philosophy, development and
training of a variety of martial arts, including jujitsu and aikido.
The
essays include selections from such works as Eugen Herrigel's Zen
in the Art of Archery, Maxine Hong Kingston's The Woman Warrior,
Miyamoto Musashi's classic A Book of Five Rings, and Terry Dobson's
famous aikido story, "A Soft Answer."
This
book is a must-have for all martial artists, no matter what their style.
