Cans
for Critters Needs Your Help

What
do our recycled soda cans have to do with dogs and cats? Plenty! Those
sticky cans go to Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment (A.D.O.P.T.)
for their Cans for Critters fundraiser.
Approximately 10
million cats and dogs are put to sleep every year at shelters in this
country. A.D.O.P.T. is one of the many organizations working to prevent
that. A.D.O.P.T. is a nonprofit, no-kill, all volunteer organization
that has found permanent homes for over 7,000 animals since it first
opened in 1989.
Since July 1997,
when MATS began donating cans to A.D.O.P.T., we have donated 40 bags
of cans. While the number of bags from our organization is not large,
the success of Cans for Critters is based on donations from many sources.
When I drop off our few bags of cans, I am always gratified to add them
to the piles of bags from other donators. Cans for Critters successfully
raises significant amounts of money to help the A.D.O.P.T. dogs and
cats.
Here's where I need
your help. I've been digging empty paper cups, dirty Kleenex, and Gatorade
bottles out of the cans recycling container. It's been ... well ...
icky. Everyone can help the cats and dogs of A.D.O.P.T. by separating
their garbage. The cans go in the container labeled "Cans."
Glass and plastic drinking bottles go in the container labeled "Bottles."
Although plastic and glass don't go to the Cans For Critters fundraiser,
they will be recycled. The third container is for the rest of your garbage.
It's easy!
